I think Cunningham's ideas are worth pursuing, particularly in his book. But after viewing the linked video I have to say that he is not a particularly compelling lecturer. Many of his audience found his method of exposition scatter shot and I have to say that I agree with them. If you're interested in learning what Cunningham has to say you'd probably be better served to view the BBC video and, of course, read his book.

I agree that the book offers a far more tightly argued case. The lecture is a bit scatter-gun and his arguments do skim over things very quickly.
But, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the way that Conor lectures. It was hearing him lecture that first won me over to taking him seriously as an interesting person. He may well be the most fun-to-listen-to lecturer I have heard. You can't help but be engaged even if it is a bit scattery.
